Linseed’s (flax) Latin name is Linum usitatissimum which means “the most useful” linseed (there are other species) because of all the things it is used for.

The Oil Paint of the Old Masters

One of linseed’s many uses in addition to food and medicine is oil painting. The wonderful vibrant colours of the Old Masters were created with cold pressed linseed oil, processed in small batches to enhance its clarity.
