Fruit, Ground Flaxseed & Nuts, Nutritious, Quick & simple

I needed to make breakfast quickly, so it was a Bramley Apple, cored but not peeled, chopped into pieces, placed in a wide soup plate, and generously covered with water, then microwaved with a loose lid for about 3-4 minutes – until the apple was soft. (Sometimes I need to add a nit more water.)  Added two good heaped tablespoons, about 25g Flax Farm ground golden flaxseed, some defrosted frozen berries and topped it with flaked almonds.  I put a few drops of stevia to sweeten the apple because Bramleys are quite sharp.  It was a delicious big bowlful of breakfast.

Very Low GI, Satisfying & Filling

I asked Google AI to estimate the Glycaemic Index and its quick answer was 32.  which is very low, perfect for a good filling, energising, sustaining breakfast, which this was. This is its report that explains how it came to that answer. :

AI Overview

The calculated glycaemic index for the combination of 1 Bramley apple, 25g ground flaxseed, 30g almonds, and 75g mixed berries is approximately 32.
Explanation:
  • Bramley Apple: The average glycemic index (GI) of an apple is around 36.
  • Ground Flaxseed: Ground flaxseed has a low GI, typically around 3.
  • Almonds: Almonds also have a low GI, ranging from 0 to 25.
  • Mixed Berries: Berries like strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries generally have a GI between 28 and 40.
Calculation:
  1. Find the average GI for each food:
    • Bramley Apple: 36
    • Ground Flaxseed: 3
    • Almonds: 25 (average of 0 to 25)
    • Mixed Berries: 34 (average of 28 to 40)
  2. Calculate the weighted average GI for the combination:
    • ((36 * 1) + (3 * 25) + (25 * 30) + (34 * 75)) / (1 + 25 + 30 + 75) = 32.
Important Note: This is an estimated GI. The actual GI can vary depending on the specific type and preparation of each food.
