Male menopause

Linseed for the male menopause, andropause and an aphrodisiac

The posh name for the male menopause is the “Andropause”. It is the name sometimes given to explain a collection of symptoms in men as they get older. It is not universally or scientifically acknowledged, there is no precise defining stage, but it covers the phase when the production of male sex hormones, testosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone reduces. Unlike women it is a slow and gradual process.

Men going through their menopause can also suffer the similar symptoms to women but generally these are less extreme.

The most noticeable and common male menopause symptoms can include depression, irritability, mood swings, loss of self esteem, sleep problems, anxiety, hot flushes, night sweats, muscle and joint aches, lack of energy and general fatigue.

A lot of men also often report loss of libido, lack of interest and pleasure in sex and failure to maintain a strong erection.

As men go through the male menopause their skin can lose its tone, dryness and redness are common, at that age muscle mass also reduces and weight tends to increase. Long standing health issues often worsen as can prostate enlargement, gradual blocking of the stream and the frequent need to urinate at night.

Linseed/flax can help improve many of these symptoms of Andropause, “male menopause” and gradual aging.
